SX: Hedonic harmony

In this topic some brief notes on the concept of :people_hugging: Hedonic harmony, based on tensions in chatroom discussion, resulting from simple misunderstandings of typed texts, and people who are impatient and rushed and jump to conclusions that is not based on actual situation and without making enquiries first.

Particularly around Governance and Moderation some truly artificial social construct are created on-the-fly with all kinds of vague talk and deeply engrained ideological notions around “Politics” and “Power dynamics” - all hypercapitalism induced culture and habits. Same is true around Code of Conducts and DEI policies, where we artificially enforce culture. It is great to have such artifacts, but it is merely a first step towards healthy commons that can collaborate harmoniously, despite how different all these people are. Today, based on the feeblest consensus on how these constructs should be modeled, bandaid features and functionality are plastered onto social systems that are copies of their exploitative counterparts in the evil biz world. The focus is purely technospheric: What tech to bolt on to keep things in check? SX is about the opposite way: People first, then tech.

:point_right: Current dev methods trigger Conway’s law, resulting in yet-another-hypercapitalist-system.

Hedonic drivers of SX solution design

SX solutions start on the basis of the first Hedonic drivers. After centering (knowing what you want, and where you want to be) the solution development process kicks of on the simple notion of *think, act, and feel hedonic drivers.

  • Think before you act. So that you act better.
  • Think how you want to feel (by the social experience a solution offers).
  • Act so that you feel (internalize solution concepts).
  • Act so that your stakeholders feel (that the solution satisfies their needs)
  • Feel (enjoy the social experience that results).
  • Feel to make you think (to incorporate a feedback loop)
  • → And the :o: Circle is round, iterate, evolve, mature, grow.

Hedonic harmony is crucial for a shift towards harmonious society and cultures where we respect each others’ differences and opinions. Where it is no longer needed to hang a sign with :zap: “Stern warning: Read DEI Rules” on every door. Because DEI will come natural, becomes habitual, as people learn to value each other better.

Another anology is if I walk out the door, and suddenly a stranger slaps me in the face for a minor breach of CoC that holds true in that street. And if I protest I run the risk of the street becoming eternally blocked to me. And the people on that street acting if I don’t exist anymore, as they blocked me, pushed me out of society.
