# Quora alternative

In [Jürgen Hubert: "I have maintained for some time that we need a #F…" - Memento mori](https://mementomori.social/@juergen_hubert/115400428803345063) the wish to an alternative to the Q&A forum Quora was expressed:

The closest I remember is [GitHub - Retrospring/retrospring: Q/A based social network](https://github.com/Retrospring/retrospring) which is looking for a maintainer (and archived since 1st September 2025).

This forum also mentions Quora in [https://discuss.coding.social/t/guilds-services-relationships-network-wiki/398](https://discuss.coding.social/t/guilds-services-relationships-network-wiki/398)

Personally the closest I used personally to it was Stack Exchange.

Wouldn’t this be something like:

- Make people mark their questions, i.e. by mentioning some tool
- Provide an algorithm that allows people to browse questions, they could answer.

Implementing `@ask` is trivial. The algorithm would be something akin to labeling and then assign to person. This algorithm would be some form of [Recommender system - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recommender_system)

So all in all not too hard of a project to write. Maybe also something to write to [https://www.prototypefund.de/](https://www.prototypefund.de/) maybe an alternative to [Making sure you're not a bot!](https://codeberg.org/helge/admin/src/branch/main/prototypefund/2025.md)
